A Heritage steeped in elegance

Essex House Residences

Extraordinary living in one of Manhattan's most iconic hotels

For eighty years, the Essex House has been an oasis of class and elegance on the edge of Central Park. The hotel offers stunning views of the Park and the New York skyline complemented by luxurious appointments and first-class service.

Built during the height of the great depression, it opened its doors to great fanfare as one of the city's premier residential hotels where the elite and wealthy New York society lived in luxurious suites.  Owned for almost 35 years by a prominent New York banker and real estate tycoon, it was converted into one of the world's first condominium hotels by Marriott Corporation in 1974.  Today this celebrated landmark hotel is comprised of a first class hotel with 392 guest rooms, 117 refined suites and 185 extraordinary homes. Throughout its life, this stunning Art Deco beauty has been home to corporate leaders, Hollywood celebrities, tycoons and royalty.

The hotel was completely renovated several times in recent years, expertly creating an atmosphere of distinction and elegance still seen today in the fluted marble columns of the lobby, ballroom and public spaces. The Essex House reflects the grace and refinement of a by-gone era combined with the modern day technology and upscale service expected by residents and hotel guests alike and is now managed by JW Marriot brand.

The Essex House has received the distinction of being named a Historical Hotel of America!
